Families could be at risk due to rapid spread of COVID-19; SLMA

COLOMBO (News 1st); Experts have warned that there is a high risk of family members contracting COVID-19 from a person who is already positive for the UK variant of the coronavirus.

The President of the Sri Lanka Medical Association Dr. Padma Gunaratne speaking to reporters said this is because the UK variant discovered in Sri Lanka is spreading fast which in turn has proven difficult to move patients to hospitals. Considering the rising number of COVID-19 infections daily, she urged the general public to restrict their movements and only travel for essential purposes
