Colombo (News 1st); Opposition MPs questioned the right of the Chinese Embassy in Colombo to organize a 'Study Visit' to the Colombo Port City for Sri Lankan members of parliament.

Samagi Jana Balawegaya MP Harshana Rajakaruna told the Parliament on Wednesday (21) that an SMS was received saying a visit to the Colombo Port City organised by the Chinese Embassy for Parliamentarians had been postponed. "Dear Sir/Madam, The event arranged by the Chinese Embassy to make a study visit to the Colombo Port City on the 22nd of April 2021 after the adjournment of the parliament has been postponed," stated the MP quoting the SMS. Harshana Rajakaruna said during the former administration it was the Urban Development Authority (UDA) that organised such visits to the Colombo Port City and not the Chinese Embassy. The MP questioned the right for the Chinese Embassy to organise visits for MPs to property that belongs to Sri Lanka and called on the Speaker to look into the matter.
