President identifies key factor to combat corruption

COLOMBO (News1st): President Gotabaya Rajapaksa has said that the attitude of people must be changed to prevent fraud and corruption. "These businessmen are the people of this country. They loot and smuggle such goods into the country," the President said on Saturday. He made these remarks during the 17th phase of the Discussion with the Village programme took place at the Bogaswewa Maha Vidyalaya in Vavuniya today. During the programme, the President pointed out that he had acted to prevent environmental destruction under Mahinda Rajapaksa's presidency as well. "All these resources were destroyed during the last five years. But none of the environmentalists commented on this," he noted. The President said that sufficient coconut trees have not been cultivated in the country although there is a demand for coconut oil in the market.
