SLPP MP & PS Member released from bribery charges

Colombo (News 1st);  Colombo High Court Judge Aditya Patabandige ordered to release of Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna Parliamentarian Milan Jayathilake and Dompe Pradeshiya Sabha member K. D. Ajith Sisira Kumara from the bribery charges filed against them. A case was filed against the duo on 08 separate indictments including the obtaining of Rs. 600,000/- from a bribe of Rs. 700,000/- to issue a permit for a quarry. Deputy Director-General of the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption Ganga Heiyanthuduwa informed the court that the charge sheet filed against the defendants will be withdrawn due to a technicality. In addition, the court ordered for the travel ban imposed on the defendants to be lifted.
