No talks on wewas in Sinharaja; officials claim

COLOMBO (News1st): Officials have denied discussions being held on the proposed construction of two irrigation tanks in Sinharaja, recognized as a UNESCO world heritage site. "We only know that there was no agreement with us on this matter," an official from the forest conservation department said at a media briefing on Wednesday. Meanwhile, forest and wildlife department officials also denied that three houses are being constructed along an elephant pass in Sinharaja. "There's no way in which an elephant corridoor can be located in that area," another official claimed.
