04 COVID-19 deaths on Wednesday (10); Fatalities rise to 515

COLOMBO (News 1st): The Director-General of Health Services confirmed that FOUR (04) COVID-19 deaths were reported in the country on Wednesday (Mar. 10), raising Sri Lanka’s COVID-19 death toll to 515. The details of the deceased are as follows: 01. A 74-year-old male from Colombo 14. He died on 08.03.2021 at his residence. The cause of death is mentioned as Covid pneumonia. 02. A 57-year-old male from Colombo 09. He died on 08.03.2021 on admission to Colombo General Hospital. The cause of death is mentioned as Covid pneumonia and acute diabetes. 03. A 23-year-old male from Alawathugoda. He died on 08.03.2021 while receiving treatment at Kandy General Hospital. The cause of death is mentioned as Covid pneumonia and acute blood poisoning. 04. A 77-year-old female from Nugegoda. She was diagnosed as infected with the COVID-19 virus while receiving treatment at Colombo-South Teaching Hospital and transferred to Pimbura Base Hospital, where she died on 10.03.2021. The cause of death is mentioned as Covid pneumonia and blood poisoning. Meanwhile, another 300 new positive cases were reported on Wednesday (Mar. 10), raising the COVID-19 caseload in the country to 86,685, the Department of Government Information said. As of Thursday morning (Mar. 11), there are 2964 active patients receiving treatment, while 83,210 have recovered.
