COLOMBO (News 1st): UNESCO has decided to declare the “Mahawanshaya” as a World Heritage.
Accordingly, the “Mahawanshaya” currently kept at the library of the University of Peradeniya will be declared as a World Heritage.

Representatives of UNESCO have inspected other “Mahawanshaya” palm-leaf books located at various places in the country, but due to their shortcomings, they were deemed not eligible to be declared as World Heritage status.
