Five-Judge Supreme Court Bench to Hear Petitions On 22nd Amendment

COLOMBO (News 1st): The Supreme Court is scheduled to commence hearings tomorrow (1) on a series of petitions challenging the proposed 22nd Amendment to the Constitution, which was recently presented to Parliament by the Government.

The petitions, filed by various parties seeking to challenge the constitutionality of the proposed amendment, are expected to be considered by a five-member Supreme Court bench.

The bench will be headed by Chief Justice Preethi Padman Surasena.

The remaining members of the bench are Supreme Court Justices Achala Wengappuli, Arjuna Obeysekera, Sampath Abeykoon and Gihan Kulatunga.
