Case between MTV & George Steuart taken up

COLOMBO (News 1st): When the action filed by George Steuart Health (Pvt) Ltd against MTV Channel Private Limited over its reportage on rapid antigen tests, came up before District Judge of Colombo Hon. Rashantha Godawela in Court No.1 today, the Learned Judge inquired if both parties were ready for oral submissions, at which point Counsel for MTV Mr Uditha Egalahewa pointed out to Court the impact of an enjoining order on the Defendant company as it is a media organisation. Thereafter, the Learned Judge suggested to the Parties that they could file comprehensive written submissions in lieu of oral submissions. President’s Counsel representing both parties agreed to this. Accordingly, Written submissions are due to be filed by both parties on 15 March 2021. Mr Uditha Egalahewa President’s Counsel, Mr Jeevantha Jayathilaka, Mr Niranjan Arulpragasam, Mr Damitha Karunaratne, Mr N K Ashokbharan, Mr Miyuru Egalahewa, and other counsels appeared for the defendant, instructed by Mr G G Arulpragasam. Appearing for the Plaintiff were Mr Romesh de Silva PC and Mr Ruwantha Cooray Attorney at Law.
