Parliamentary Council convenes today (03)

COLOMBO (News 1st): The Parliamentary Council convenes today (Feb. 03) under the patronage of Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena, at the Speaker's official residence, News 1st parliamentary correspondent reported. The Parliamentary Council is scheduled to meet at 12:30 pm on Wednesday (Feb. 03) to make observations on the names recommended by President Gotabaya Rajapaksa, for the Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka (PUCSL). Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa, Leader of the Opposition - Sajith Premadasa, Minister Douglas Devananda and MP Kabir Hashim serve as the members of the Parliamentary Council established under the 20th Amendment to the Constitution. A party leaders meeting is scheduled to be held at 9:30 am on Monday (8th February), to consider the bills to be taken up for debate in the next parliamentary week and future proceedings.
