COLOMBO (News1st): Tuition classes will resume from January 25 under directives of health authorities, education minister Professor G.L. Peiris has said.
He made these remarks responding to questions raised by opposition leader Sajith Premadasa in Parliament.
"We haven't forgotten tuition classes," the education minister stressed. He insisted that the resumption of activities in the education sector must take place gradually.
Premadasa pointed out that tuition classes have been closed from October 3 last year due to COVID-19 fears affecting students and teachers.
"More than 1 million individuals who are financially dependent on tuition classes have lost their income and are unable to settle their debt," he observed.
