COLOMBO (News 1st): The Natural Hazards Early Warning Centre at the Department of Meteorology in an advisory for heavy rain issued on Sunday (Dec. 20) said prevailing showery condition is expected to continue further.
The Met Department has identified the Central province and Badulla, Ampara, and Batticaloa districts as “high risk” areas.
Heavy rainfalls exceeding 100 mm are likely at some places.
Meanwhile, the Landslide Early Warning issued to four Divisional Secretariats of the Kandy, Matale, and Nuwara-Eliya districts will continue to remain in effect.
The National Building Research Organisation had issued the warning taking into account the prevailing showery conditions.
