Opposition towards Minister Vasudeva in Eheliyagoda

COLOMBO (News 1st): A tense situation ensued when residents of Eheliyagoda expressed their opposition towards Minister of Water Supply Vasudeva Nanayakkara today.

Minister Vasudeva Nanayakkara arrived in Thalawita, Eheliyagoda this morning to lay the foundation stone for a new water project connected to the Diyabubula springs. However, the residents did not afford a warm welcome to the minister. 

The Eheliyagoda Police had to intervene to diffuse the situation.

Residents of Thalawita allege plans are afoot to provide water to the Eheliyagoda town from the Diyabubula spring located in their area.
