COLOMBO (News 1st): Around 66,000 Sri Lankans are stranded overseas given the COVID-19 pandemic, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said on Wednesday (Dec. 16).
According to the Ministry, flights have been allocated for a period of one week, starting on Thursday (Dec. 17) to facilitate the repatriation of these people.
Thereby, Sri Lankans are scheduled to be repatriated from Bangladesh, Japan, Singapore, Lebanon, South Korea, and Papua New Guinea.
Close to 49,000 Sri Lankans have been repatriated so far, since the global outbreak, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said.
