Colombo (News 1st): The budget for the year 2021 was passed with a 2/3rds majority in Parliament yesterday (11). The budget was passed after 151 votes were cast in favor of it. Only 54 votes were cast against the budget.
17 MPs were not present at the Parliamentary chamber when the vote was called, including all 10 MPs representing the Tamil National Alliance(TNA).
State Minister of National Security Chamal Rajapaksa and TMVP MP Sivanesathurai Chandrakanth alias 'Pilleyaan' were also absent from the vote.
Faizal Cassim, H. M. M. Harees, H. M. Thawfeek, and Nazir Ahmed representing the Sri Lanka Muslim Congress were not present at the chamber when voting got underway.
