Shani Abeysekera's bail application rejected

Colombo (News 1st); The bail applications made on behalf of Former Director of the Criminal Investigations Department Shani Abeysekera and Sub-Inspector Sugath Mohana Mendis were rejected by Gampaha Number 01 High Court Judge Nimal Ranaweera on Wednesday (09).
Abeysekera and Mendis are placed in remand custody and are charged with providing false evidence to a judicial matter.
A group of Counsel led by President's Counsel Wasantha Nawaratne Bandara filed the bail applications with the court.
Deputy Solicitor General Shanil Kularatne appearing for the Attorney General's Department filed objections and considering the facts from both parties, the court rejected the bail applications.
