Colombo (News 1st); The Criminal Investigations Department recorded statements from 26 people with regard to its inquiry on the Mahara Prison Riots.

Police Spokesperson DIG Ajith Rohana speaking to News 1st said statements were also obtained from 08 Medical Officers and 02 nurses attached to the Prison.

Further, statements were recorded from the Chief Jailor and 01 Officers as well as 06 inmates.

He said the investigations are on-going regarding the prison riots.
