487 COVID-19 patients recover on Wednesday: Total recoveries rise to 18,304

COLOMBO (News 1st): A total of 487 COVID-19 patients were discharged today (Dec. 02), raising the total number of recoveries in Sri Lanka to 18,304, the Epidemiology Unit at the Ministry of Health said on Wednesday (Dec. 02). The total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in the country stands at 24,532. Another 6106 active COVID-19 patients continue to receive treatment, according to the Epidemiology Unit. The COVID-19 death toll in the country stands at 122 and yesterday’s (Dec. 01) four deaths were from Rajagiriya, Colombo 12, Kolonnawa, and Colombo 10 areas, the National Operations Centre for the Prevention of COVID-19 Outbreak (NOCPCO) said on Wednesday (Dec. 02). A total of 545 including 541 locally-identified COVID-19 cases and 4 expatriates - that is two who returned from the United Arab Emirates and two from Japan were confirmed positive for COVID-19 on Tuesday (Dec. 01), the National Operations Centre for the Prevention of COVID-19 Outbreak (NOCPCO) said. Among those who tested positive for the virus are 294 people from Colombo, 130 from Kalutara, and 36 from Kandy. As of 6:00 this morning (Dec. 02), the total number of COVID-19 cases reported from the Minuwangoda factory and Peliyagoda cluster stands at 20,979. According to the NOCPCO, as of Wednesday (Dec. 02), 6,461 persons in 59 tri service-managed QCs are still in quarantine. A total of 7,463 PCR tests were carried out, in the country on Tuesday (Dec. 01).
