12,095 PCR tests on Sunday; 4,501 persons in 42 tri service-managed QCs

Colombo (News 1st); On Sunday (22), a total of 400 people were confirmed positive for COVID-19. Among them, are 9 expatriates and all other 391 are from locally-identified affectees.

Of those cases, 121 are from Colombo, 112 from Gampaha, 27 from Kandy and others are from different districts, stated the National Operations Centre for Prevention of COVID-19 Outbreak (NOCPCO).

By 6.00 AM on Monday (23), the total number of COVID-19 positive cases reported from Minuwangoda garment factory employees and the Peliyagoda Fish Market cluster stands at 16,639.

Of them, 3,059 were from the Minuwangoda cluster and all other 13,580 were from the Peliyagoda Fish Market cluster.

To-date, 87 COVID-19 positive deaths have been reported.

As of Monday morning (23), the flight QR 668 from Doha, Qatar with 25 passengers, the flight UL 230 from Kuwait with 297 passengers, and the flight UL 455 from Japan with 2 passengers have arrived in Colombo.

All those passengers were referred to Quarantine Centres (QCs), managed by tri-services upon their arrival after formalities at the airport.

As of Monday morning (23), 4,501 persons in 42 tri service-managed QCs are still in quarantine.

On Sunday (22), 12,095 PCR tests were carried out.
