22nd COVID-19 death reported; COD ruled as COVID-19 Pneumonia

Colombo (News 1st);  The 22nd COVID-19 death was reported in Sri Lanka on Tuesday (03), reported the Government Information Department.

It said the Epidemiology Unit of the Ministry of Health reported that a postmortem PCR conducted on a 68-year-old woman who had died at her residence at Jampettah Street, Colombo on Sunday (01), revealed she was exposed to COVID-19.

Earlier, a family member of the victim was identified as a COVID-19 infected person and the other members of the family were moved to quarantine.

The Director-General of Health Services confirmed the 68-year-old woman had died from COVID-19 related pneumonia and therefore she is the 22nd Sri Lankan to fall victim to the coronavirus.
