06 CID teams still searching for Rishad; statement recorded from wife

Colombo (News 1st);  The Criminal Investigations Department on Friday (16) recorded a statement from Ex-Minister Rishad Bathiudeen's wife at their Colombo residence. Detectives first searched the Bauddhaloka Mawatha, Colombo 07 residence, and then recorded a statement. 06 teams from the Criminal Investigations Department are tracing Ex-Minister Rishad Bathiudeen in order to arrest him. On Tuesday (13) Attorney General Dappula De Livera directed Sri Lanka Police to arrest Rishad Bathiudeen according to Law as the Magistrate's Court ordered the Police can proceed to arrest the MP without a warrant. Fort Magistrate Priyantha Liyanage on Tuesday (13) said the Criminal Investigations Department does not need a warrant from a court in order to arrest MP Rishad Bathiudeen and two others, based on the nature of the charges filed against them. Rishad Bathuideen is charged with Criminal Misappropriation of Public Funds and Violation of Election Laws with regard to the Transportation of IDPs in CTB buses to vote at the 2019 Presidential Election. Ex-Minister Rishad Bathiudeen filed a writ application with the Court of Appeal on Thursday (15) seeking an order to prevent his arrest.
