Staff member attached to CMC exposed to COVID-19

Thereafter authorities decided to restrict the entry to the Colombo Municipal Council and Public Assistance Department buildings with immediate effect.

Chief Medical Officer for Health of the Colombo Municipal Council Dr. Ruwan Wijayamuni speaking to News 1st said all those who worked with the staff member in question were directed to self-quarantine with immediate effect.

He said she is the first COVID-19 patient detected in a random PCR test and this needs to be verified by conducting more tests.

In addition, the staff member in question had attended the CMC Finance Committee meeting on Wednesday (14) which was attended by the Mayor of Colombo and other Department Heads as well Council Members.

Dr. Ruwan Wijayamuni said all of them will be subject to PCR tests on Friday (16).
