COLOMBO(News 1st): The University Grants Commission decided to offer concessionary loans to students who enroll to Sri Lankan universities, to purchase laptops to pursue their studies. The loan facility of Rs. 100,000/- will be provided by a state bank, Vice-Chairperson of the University Grants Commission Senior Professor, Janitha. A. Liyanage stated. Interestingly, the loan can be settled after the student completes his/her studies and obtains a degree. This move was taken in order to promote online learning among university students, Senior Professor Janitha. A. Liyanage. Students who were selected to state universities following the 2019 Advanced Level Examination are provided online lectures for the subjects of IT and English, She further said.
