Interim Report on total power outage submitted to Cabinet of Ministers

Colombo (News 1st); The report of the interim committee appointed by the Minister of Power to probe the total power outage that occurred in the national electricity supply on the 17th of August 2020 was tabled at the Cabinet Meeting, said a document released by the Government Information Department.

The Committee has recognized the non - availability of a disaster management methodology for monitoring and maintenance 

while having furnished 11 recommendations including the urgency of having a more reliable monitoring and maintenance methodology for the prevention of disasters.

The Committee has reported the cause for the total power outage as a mistake occurred from an officer responsible for general maintenance by that time in the Kerawalapitiya Grid Sub Station.
