Colombo (News 1st); A group who were employed at the Colombo Port City protested at the Agitation Site close to the Presidential Secretariat for the third day on Wednesday (12) seeking reinstatement. The group claims they were attached to a sub-contractor in the Colombo Port City and were not called for work for more than 05 months. One the protestors, Kanishka Heshan said a group of employees is trapped inside the Colombo Port City construction site as the gates have been closed. He slammed Sri Lanka Police and the Department of Labor for passing the ball on the matter when they approach the said government bodies for a solution to the issue. Following a discussion with a senior officer at Port City, the protest was called off. This evening, CHEC Port City Colombo Private Limited in a statement said t contractual and regulatory dispute has arisen between a contractor company and its employees which CHEC Port City Colombo (Pvt) Ltd, the project investor company, have no direct connection with.
