The transportation of ballot papers, ballot boxes and election officials to polling stations commenced at 8 this morning, the National Elections Commission said.

These activities are being carried out under the supervision of the District Returning Officers, NEC Commissioner General Saman Sri Ratnayake said.

Meanwhile, over 8000 health officials will be deployed at polling stations,the Ministry of Health said.

They will be deployed to the respective polling stations today,Director General Health Services Dr. Anil Jasinghe said.

Meanwhile over 3,000 mobile patrols are in operation island wide in order to provide security for tomorrow’s polls, Police said.
