Anti-India protesters say talks with PM a success: Final decision following internal trade union meeting

COLOMBO (News 1st): The discussion between Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa and port workers who are engaged in a strike and Satyagraha campaign, concluded.

The strike and Satyagraha campaign were launched by a port workers, demanding the sale of the Eastern Terminal of the Colombo Port to India be terminated, and its operations be taken over by the Sri Lanka Ports Authority.

“The discussion with Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa was successful, adding a final decision regarding the matter, will be made following discussion with the trade unions,” Ariyadasa Pathirana – Secretary of the Sri Lanka Free Workers’ Association of the Ports, said on Sunday (Aug. 2).
