Govt. Analysts to conduct tests at PNB drug evidence storage

COLOMBO(News 1st): The Government Analyst's Department on Sunday (12) said it obtained samples from the Police Narcotic Bureau drug evidence storage. This storage is considered as where drugs seized during PNB raids placed pending legal process. A senior official of the Government Analyst's Department speaking to News 1st said an investigation will take place to determine if the drugs seized by the PNB were contaminated with various other substances after moving to the evidence storage. He said a 10 member team will be probing the matter. Recently, personnel from the Government Analyst's Department visited the PNB evidence storage for investigations, based on a court order. The Department said information extracted by testing the samples and its own investigation will be provided to the court as a report in the coming week. The storage facility was sealed once again, said Sri Lanka Police.
