Verdict on Wilpattu case against Rishad Bathiudeen on 31st July

Colombo (News 1st); The verdict in the application filed against Ex-Minister Rishad Bathiudeen and several others will be delivered on the 31st of July, by the Court of Appeal.
The matter was filed against the accused on several charges including the illegal clearing of land in Marichchikattuwa located close to the Wilpattu National Park.
Filed by the Centre for Environmental Justice, the case was taken up in the presence of Appeal Court Justices Janak De Silva and Nissanka Bandula Karunaratne.
The Centre for Environmental Justice claims the clearing of 2388 acres of the Kal-Aru Forest Reservation located close to the Wilpattu National Park and constructions in the area caused serious environmental destruction.
