AG instructs Acting IGP to record statements from Ex-President and Ex-Prime Minister

Colombo (News 1st); Attorney General Dappula De Livera instructed the Acting Inspector General Police to record statements from Former President Maithripala Sirisena and Former Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe with regard to the Central Bank Treasury Bond Scam.

State Counsel Nishara Jayaratne, the Coordinating Officer for the Attorney General said the Acting IGP was also instructed to record statements from the Former Advisor to Prime Minister R. Paskaralingama and General Manager of People’s Bank Wasantha Kumar on the Bond Scam.

The Attorney General had given these instructions based on the recommendations made by the Presidential Commission of Inquiry which was appointed to investigate the issuance of treasury bonds from 01st of February 2015 to 31st of March 2016.

He also instructed the Acting IGP to submit copies of the statements without delay.
