COLOMBO (News1st): A bed ridden elderly man, aged 86, has donated Rs 5000 to the President’s COVID-19 Fund, describing it as an effort to receive blessings.

“I cannot walk. I am bed ridden. The relief that is being given to the people at a time when the economy has fallen down amidst a dangerous situation,” the man had said in a letter to Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa.

The letter had been sent along with a Rs 5000 note.

The Prime Minister, upon reading the letter, had appreciated the conduct of the man, at a time in which he is bed ridden, the Prime Minister’s Office said in a statement.

Accordingly, the Prime Minister had said that arrangements will be made to provide the man an opportunity to make the donation to the President on his birthday on June 20.
