Innovations by the Army go on display in Akuregoda

COLOMBO (News1st): Products innovated by the Army with the aim of thwarting COVID-19 were unveiled at the Defence Headquarters in Akuregoda on Wednesday. The event saw 29 new innovations of the Electrical and Mechanical Engineering Regiment being put on display. Defence Secretary Retired Major General Kamal Gunaratne and Army Commander Lieutenant General Shavendra Silva were among the key dignitaries at the event. The defence secretary, speaking at the event, said he does not expect a second wave of COVID-19, adding that the freedom enjoyed by the people at present is because of the hard work of the armed forces and health officials. He added that even though a second wave is not expected, that the armed forces and our health officials are prepared to face any challenge in the country.
