The Consumer Affairs Authority (or CAA) said raids will be carried out starting today in search of traders who sell rice over the set maximum retail price. It said several groups have been deployed in this regard. The CAA said strict legal action will be filed against traders who sell rice at prices above the maximum retail price. The maximum retail price imposed for several varieties of rice was revised again, yesterday. Accordingly, the revised maximum retail price of a kilo of 'Kiri Samba' is Rs. 120. The revised maximum retail price for a kilo of Samba is Rs. 98 and a kilo of Nadu is set at Rs. 96.
