Colombo (News 1st);  The National Trade Union Center filed a complaint with the Human Rights Commission against slashing the salaries of public sector employees.

Attorney-at-Law Janaka Adhikari said the public sector workers did not agree with the request made by President's Secretary P. M. Jayasundara to donate their salaries.

He said it was an arbitrary act and the workers were unaware of the salary cut until payday.

General Secretary of the National Trade Union Center Mahinda Jayasinghe said slashing salaries were not a request but abuse of state power.

He said the state cannot obtain a cent from any public worker without consent and demanded the government suspend the process.
