COLOMBO (News1st): The section of the Hambantota Expressway from Hambantota to Kottawa was re-opened for traffic as curfew restrictions were relaxed in certain areas on Monday.
The public can use the highway provided they abide by curfew regulations which include the suspension of travelling between districts, the road development authority (RDA) said.
The government had suspended travelling between districts, except for essential services as part of efforts to combat the novel coronavirus in the country.
State and private sectors commenced operations in essential service industries with limited staffers in keeping with the directives of the government.
Public transport services too re-commenced today.
