COLOMBO (News1st): The Dambulla Economic Centre which was shut down due to COVID-19 concerns will be re-opened for 12 hours from today, authorities said.
This decision had been made following a discussion between home affairs minister Janaka Bandara Tennakoon and the trade union of the economic centre.
Accordingly, the economic centre will be kept open from 6 am to 6 pm daily.
The government had introduced a new mechanism to purchase produce from farmers through divisional secretariats after economic centres were closed down to stem the spread of the coronavirus.
