COLOMBO (News1st): The Kurunegala Teaching Hospital has reversed the move to shut down its emergency unit after a suspected COVID – 19 patient tested negative for the virus.

“We resumed services at the emergency unit this morning after the tests showed negative results,” hospital director  Dr. Sarath Weerabandara told News1st.

The hospital closed off its emergency unit late Thursday after a patient from Katupotha was suspected to have contracted the virus.

Meanwhile, 39 healthcare workers involved in treating the patient who were subjected to quarantine have also been allowed to continue to work after the tests turned out negative.
