COLOMBO (News1st): The Police Headquarters on Tuesday introduced a new mechanism to provide curfew passes in a bid to avoid crowding at police stations. Accordingly, curfew permits for institutions in Colombo which have more than 50 employees, will be issued through the police headquarters, a statement issued by the police read. Institutions located in the Gampaha and Kalutara districts which have more than 50 employees can collect curfew passes through the office of the Senior DIG in charge of the Western Province. Similarly, companies located in other provinces which have more than 50 workers can obtain curfew passes from their respective Senior DIG's offices. Meanwhile, companies with more than 10 and less than 50 employees can collect their curfew passes from the offices of the OIC in their respective police divisions. Curfew permits for companies with less than 10 staffers and for urgent private needs can be collected from police stations, the statement read. Employees of state bodies, private banks and hospitals, insurance companies, and media outlets can use their service ID's as a curfew pass. Sri Lanka imposed curfew regulations across the country as a part of its efforts to curb the spread of COVID - 19.
