COLOMBO (News1st): The Army says that 208 people who have completed the quarantine process will leave their quarantine centres, following a medical test, today (March 25).

Army Commander Lieutenant General Shavendra Silva said these people would be dropped off by the Army at the main towns in the vicinity of their residential areas.

“There is no need for the others to be afraid about these people returning to their hometowns,” the Army Commander, who heads the National Operation Centre for the prevention of COVID – 19 assured.

Earlier this month, the government decided to impose a mandatory 14-day quarantine period for those arriving from countries which have been badly hit by the virus.

Yesterday, 311 people left the quarantine centres in Kandakadu and Punani upon completing the quarantine period.
