COLOMBO (News 1st); An open verdict has been delivered following the post-mortem examination conducted today into the death of a female physiotherapist whose body was discovered near the Teldeniya Hospital.
Police stated that it has not yet been conclusively determined whether the death was a homicide or a suicide.
Police further revealed that several scratch marks were observed on her neck.
The body of the 33-year-old woman was found yesterday (17) inside a parked vehicle near the Teldeniya Hospital.
She had been employed as a physiotherapist at the Ampara Hospital and had resigned from her position on the 11th, stating that she was planning to travel overseas.
Investigations have also revealed that she had been staying at a guesthouse in Nuwara Eliya from the 3rd to the 16th of this month.
Police stated that CCTV footage shows a man, believed to be her boyfriend, carrying her away on the night before her body was discovered.
The suspected boyfriend is a software engineer residing in the Gannoruwa area of Kandy.
Police investigations have further revealed that the two had been planning to travel abroad together, and that the deceased woman had obtained a bank loan and given approximately Rs. 15 million to the suspect.
Three police teams are currently conducting investigations into the incident.
