COLOMBO (News 1st):- Cabinet Spokesperson Bandula Gunawardene states that the curfew will not affect the functioning of essential services.
The Minister stated that thereby individuals involved in the Health and Security forces could report to their services by presenting special licenses from the relevant police stations. However, he advises the general public to refrain from stepping out of houses and remain in self-quarantine.
Further, he states that at a time where the whole country is facing a massive economic crisis that the importation of all goods except for a few essential products has been limited for a period of 3 months. This decision has been made in order to minimize the chances of the rupee depreciating.
