England tour of Sri Lanka postponed over COVID-19 concerns

Sri Lanka Cricket has announced that the England tour of Sri Lanka has been postponed following talks with the England Cricket Board, due to concerns on COVID-19.

The test series between England and Sri Lanka was scheduled to begin on the 19th of March.

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic worsening globally, and after discussions with Sri Lanka Cricket,the England Cricket Board reached a decision to return its players to the UK and postpone the forthcoming Test series between Sri Lanka and England.

The England Cricket Board in a statement said, at this time, the physical and mental well-being of England players and support teams is paramount.

ECB said it looks forward to returning to Sri Lanka in the very near future to fulfill this important Test series.
