Six individuals arrested for attempting to kidnap a child

COLOMBO (News 1st):- Six individuals including four Bangladeshi nationals have been arrested for attempting to kidnap a child near the Katugasthota economic centre. The police said that the arrested suspects who were travelling in a van had tried to kidnap this child who was returning home after tuition classes along with her father last evening (March 7). While the suspects were attempting to put the child into the van, the father had put in a huge effort and saved the child, following which the father had lodged a complaint at the Katugastota police. The child who was to be kidnapped was a 12 year old from Uduwawala, Katugastota. Of the arrested individuals, two suspects have been identified as residents of Galagedara and Kadawatha. They are due to be presented before the Kandy Magistrate today (March 8). The cause of kidnapping has not yet been identified.
