125 new schools to be named as national schools - Education Ministry

COLOMBO (News 1st):- The Ministry of Education has decided to once again conduct a review on identifying schools that could be qualified to be named as a national school on a provincial level under the "1000 national schools initiative." The review will be conducted to understand if the selection process has been done effectively. The Ministry stated that under the first phase, 125 schools chosen from 125 divisional secretariats with no national schools are due to be named as a national school. The proposal has been submitted for cabinet approval. The Ministry further states that with the new addition, the total number of national schools in the country will increase to 500.
