Colombo (News 1st) – Operations have commenced to pump sand into the Calido beach at Kalutara which has been subjected to erosion.

Director-General of the Coast Guard department Prabath Chandrakirthi stated that the operations are being carried out by a Danish ship.

Rs 890 million has been allocated for this process. Furthermore, Chandrakirthi stated that operations will also be carried out to remove the sand deposited in close proximity to the Kalutara bridge.
