Interdicted Judge files petition to prevent arrest

Colombo (News 1st) – Interdicted High Court Judge Gihan Pilapitiya filed a writ petition with the Court of Appeal seeking an interim injunction order preventing his arrest.

Gihan Pilapitya requested the interim injunction order be issued to remain in effect until the petition filed by him is taken up for examination and a final decision is delivered. He also requested for the order given by the Attorney General to the Acting Inspector General of Police to take necessary legal action against him, be made void by a writ order.

President of the Court of Appeal HM Nawaz and Justice Arjuna Obeysekera who considered the petition today, decided to postpone the matter for tomorrow.

The petitioner was permitted by court to issue notice on the Acting IGP to appear in court tomorrow.
