New section of Southern expressway to be declared open next week

Colombo (News 1st) - The section of the Southern Expressway from Barawakumbuka to Hambantota via Mattala is to vested in the public on the 23rd of this month according to the Road Development Authority. Thereby the 21.8km section from Barawakumbuka to Mattala and the 16.6km section from Andarawewa to Hambantota is to be declared open on the 23rd. The sections of the expressway were completed and declared open under the previous administration, prior to the Presidential election. However new Subject Minister Johnston Fernando had advised authorities to reopen the sections after all construction work is completed.
