Rishad sends LoD for 01 Billion LKR to Wimal Weerawansa

Colombo (News 1st): Former Minister Rishad Bathiudeen sent a letter of demand seeking 01 Billion Rupees in compensation from Minister Wimal Weerawansa for making allegations at a press conference in Colombo yesterday. On Monday, Wimal Weerawansa alleged, Former Minister Rishad Bathiudeen had amassed a massive amount of wealth illegally. Minister Wimal Weerawansa said during a raid on Sunday night, the CID recovered copies of 227 Title Deeds of lands Rishad Bathiudeen had purchased under the names of various people. He alleged, the CID also recovered documents relating to fraud and corruption committed by the Former Minister when SATHOSA was under him. Further, he alleged, during the 52 Day Government Period, 100,000 US Dollars were deposited to a US-based account of Rishad Bathiudeen and the second 100,000 US Dollar transaction was suspended by the FBI. Today, Former Minister Rishad Bathiudeen challenged Wimal Weerawansa to prove his allegations on the existence of a US-based account and also called for a CID investigation on the Government Ministers' allegations. He said if SATHOSA vehicles were used to transport bombs, he should have been arrested adding this a conspiracy by Wimal Weerawansa to portray him as an anti-Buddhist individual. Rishad Bathiudeen said if 01 Billion Rupees in compensation is not made within two weeks by Wimal Weerawansa, he would take legal action.
