More than 6000 surrender during Tri-Forces General Amnesty

Colombo (News 1st): The Ministry of Defence today announced 6259 Tri-Forces personnel re-joined the service during the General Amnesty period. According to the Media Center of the Ministry of Defence among those who returned to service are 13 Officers. President Gotabaya Rajapaksa as the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces declared a week-long general amnesty period for Tri-Service absentees to coincide with the 72nd National Independence Day. 06 Officers of the Sri Lanka Army and 4528 other ranks, 707 Sri Lanka Navy Personnel and 07 Officers and 1024 other ranks of the Sri Lanka Air Force surrendered during the General Amnesty Period thus far. During this General Amnesty Period, tri-forces personnel who deserted service can report to their closest Military Camp and either rejoin the service or obtain an official discharge from service.
