STF gets new Commandant after Latiff retirement

Colombo (News 1st): DIG Lionel Gunatillake was appointed as the new Special Task Force Commandant with effect from today. With the retirement of Former Special Task Force Commandant Senior DIG M.R. Latiff, the National Police Commission appointed a new Commandant to fill the vacancy. Prior to his appointment as STF Commandant, DIG Gunatillake was the Deputy Commandant of the STF and Acting DIG for Community Police. DIG Lionel Gunatillake officially assumed duties as the new STF Commandant this morning at the Police Special Task Force Headquarters. DIG Lionel Gunatillake joined the STF as a sub-inspector in 1986 and has a proud service record of 25 years. DIG Lionel Gunatillake is well known for his great service during the war against the LTTE.
